Understanding your finances
Rural financial counsellors provide free, confidential and impartial assistance to help primary producers, fishing enterprises, forestry growers, harvesters, and small related businesses experiencing financial challenges in their business.
Contact a Rural Financial Counsellor (RFC) directly or contact the service to be assigned an RFC who will work closely with you to improve your financial situation.
The RFC will work through a Case Management process with you. The process steps are detailed below.
Engagement & Entry
Congratulations, you’ve made the first step towards understanding and improving your financial situation, as well as having the option to access Business Wellness Coaching support through RFCSNQ.
Assessment
Initially, the RFC will assess your financial situation to determine where you have been, where you are now and where you are headed from a financial perspective.
Planning
Next, the RFC will work through the planning stage with you.
During the planning stage the RFC will help you to identify and develop goals, as well as the actions and strategies you will need to undertake to achieve these goals.
Implementation & Monitoring
After you have developed your plan, the RFC will help you to implement your plan.
Going forward, the RFC will help you to monitor the progress of your plan to ensure you are on track to achieve your goals.
Closing & Exit
After you have achieved your goals, you will be able to exit the service with an improved financial position.
Working through the Case Management process with an RFC will help to build your financial resilience and become self-reliant.
So, if you or someone you know are experiencing financial hardship or at risk of financial hardship, please contact the service. Our RFCs are available to meet via phone, online or meet in-person at a preferred location.
